What to expect when working with Rebecca
Every tattoo artist has their own way of working so here is what to expect when working with me, Bex. I go by either Bex or Rebecca and you can call me by either name. My pronouns are either she/her or they/them.
Communication
In order to help me keep track of administrative details, try to keep any communication about your tattoo confined to email. Occasional questions via instagram or facebook messenger are fine but I can very easily lose track of those messages so email is best for anything really important.
If you send emails about your design more than a week or so before your appointment I will likely file it away to read while designing the piece and may not read it closely or reply right away. That means questions included in those emails may be missed at first. If you need a question answered and don’t receive a reply in a day or so, feel free to politely follow up with the specific question you need answered.
I generally do all the drawing for the week on Mondays. For custom work you will usually receive an email with your design on the Monday or Tuesday evening before your appointment. You will have the opportunity to make small changes but if your changes are major you may be required to reschedule and/or pay an additional deposit. I cannot guarantee that you will receive your artwork in advance as sometimes I am working up until the last minute. In those cases you will have the opportunity to make changes at the appointment itself.
Keep in mind I’m human, and an artist first and foremost. All of the administrative work of being an independent tattoo artist can be overwhelming so occasionally messages get lost or things need to be rescheduled for human reasons. I appreciate your patience greatly!
Money
For custom tattoos you will pay a $150 art fee/deposit up front. $50 covers the time I spend drawing the art. The rest is a deposit to ensure you show up to your appointment and it will be deducted from the final cost of the tattoo.
If your design is smaller than a half-sleeve only three specific elements can be included for that design fee. For additional elements there will be a fee of $25 each. That does not include general design elements like paint splashes or swirls and mainly applies to specific flowers, animals, or objects.
My rates are:
for sessions under 5 hours: $200/hr
for sessions over 5 hours: $175/hr
You will pay for your tattoo at the end of the day’s session and you can pay with cash, credit card, or venmo.
Many large pieces can be split into multiple sessions for comfort or financial reasons. Feel free to discuss with me how you hope to plan our time together.
Tipping is not required but many folks do choose to tip, usually about 20%. You can also tip with cash, food, gifts, or just by telling your friends about your positive experience. Online reviews are great too.
Cancellations and Rescheduling
You can reschedule your appointment up to two times without paying a new deposit.
Your deposit and art fee are good for up to two years from the original appointment time if you need to put the project on hold due to personal or financial reasons.
If you are rude, insulting, or unpleasant to work with I reserve the right to cancel your appointment and not work with you again. In those cases any deposits paid for work not yet completed will be refunded. On the flip side of that, if you feel that I’m being rude or unpleasant, feel free to request a cancellation. In most cases of personality conflict deposits for not-yet-completed work will be refunded.
